Christians and Conspiracies

In the 8th century before Christ, when the threat of the Assyrian armies loomed, the people of Judah feared that their way of life was about to be destroyed. They, like us, were prone to whispers, fear of the unknown, and armchair investigations.

Isaiah prophesied: "You are not to say, 'It is a conspiracy!' In regard to all that this people call a conspiracy. And you are not to fear what they fear or be in dread of it. It is the Lord of hosts whom you should regard as holy." (Isaiah 8:12-13a NLT)

Christians, this was a word for me, and now I'm sharing it with you: We need to stop making conspiracy theories holy. We need to stop giving a voice to any entity that is yelling "It's a conspiracy!" If you hear those words, then hear the prophecy of Isaiah even louder: turn away.

It's not your business to glorify (or deify) conspiracies. It's your business to glorify God. When you see other Christians crying, 'Conspiracy!,' speak Isaiah 8:12 over your thoughts. "You are not to fear what they fear or be in dread of it. It is the Lord of hosts whom you should regard as holy." Let the others be convinced by conjecture if they need to put their faith in something smaller than God. But not you...you can do better.
